We all know those top streetwear brands, The Hundreds, Stussy, Award Tour, 10.Deep, just to name a few. But what makes these shirts so, "hot"? Is it the name? Is it the promotion? Is it the famous musicians that praise their names? For most, I think it's just a what's hot/what's not scenario, but for some it's a lot more. For me, a quality shirt is what matters. A shirt where after i wash it 3 or 4 times, it still has the same feel as it did when I first bought it. I also take customer service hella serious. I no longer spend $40 on tee's, but if I do, it's from two people and those two people only. One being Award Tour. Not just because I went to high school and know the guy personally, it's the work and dedication he puts into the project. Running a brand out of pocket and on your own is tough, trust me.
He's been at it for at least 6 years now, and i'm going on 6 months! He even packages the shirts himself, gives it a personal touch. I like that, not too many people develop relationships with their customers, and I like that he does. And the quality of his shirts are great, none of mine are faded and I have a shirt from the Award Tour inception! Keep it up bro, i'm proud of you. The next brand I respect is Johnny Cupcakes. It was an honor to meet him this past summer when he was on his Suitcase Tour. I actually got to sit and talk to him for about a good thirty minutes about the direction of his brand, and how far he's come. I respect the fact that he didn't want retail stores selling his shirts. It seems to me like once a brand goes big, they sell out and designs get a lot shittier. But one thing both brands possess that not a lot of others do is the fact that
they both pride themselves on making sure the customer is satisfied. Thats more important to me than anything, and thats one thing i promise S1MPLE will provide.. that personal level of customer service that next to no one provides. Just two of many many other things that are helping make my brand come to life. Definitely make sure you check out these brands at www.theawardtour.com and www.johnnycupcakes.com. Also check out Phil's online publication called The Madbury Club, definitely something that is bound to change the way people see blogs. Happy reading!
